Babaji's Kriya Yoga

Babaji's Kriya Yoga

What is Babaji's Kriya Yoga?

The goal of life is happiness, peace, love and enlightenment. The desire for perfection comes from the Self, the image of God, which seeks to express itself through all humanity.

Babaji's Kriya Yoga is a scientific art of God, Truth-Union and Self-Realization. It was revived by a great master of India, Babaji Nagaraj, as a synthesis of ancient teachings of the 18 Siddha tradition. It includes a series of techniques or 'kriyas' grouped into five phases or branches. Paramahamsa Yogananda taught that practice of Kriya Kundalini Pranayama can accelerate the natural progression of Divine Consciousness in human beings.
Instruction is provided in introductory courses and three progressive initiations culminating with Samadhi Kriyas.

Contact Vyasa for instruction.

Iam Yoga

Iam Yoga is hot yoga studio specializing in varied hot yoga and pilates classes. At Iam Yoga we recognize that a hot yoga practice is an excellent way to detoxify, strengthen and tone the body as well as all of its systems so that the body itself becomes the best possible vessel from where we can begin to practice and cultivate stillness, non-reactivity and tranquility of the mind. We strive to create yoga classes for our students that combine fun, challenging and dynamic cardiovascular activity to improve the health of the body and to condition the focus and awareness of the mind.

We practice yoga in a room heated to a temperature of approximately 40 degrees celcius. The purpose of practicing yoga in a heated room is to maintain a consistent level of warmth within the musculature and connective tissue so that the student can experience a safer and a deeper stretch.

Come and check out the studio and take advantage of our introductory offer -- one week of unlimited classes for only $20

L'ambiance Dance Centre

Monday and Wednesday at 6:00pm
Gentle/Restorative Hatha Yoga:

Restorative yoga is ideal for anybody craving deep relaxation, time to slow down, and to go deeper into poses. The poses are designed to support the body in ways that provide the body with an opportunity to renew, relax, and heal. There have been numerous studies reporting the physical, emotional, and mental benefits of restorative yoga.
Largely responsible for balancing the body is the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), triggered during restorative yoga practice. The PNS is the rest and digest system which aids in bringing the body back into balance and reduces stress in the body. Equally important, the heart rate and blood pressure are reduced with restorative yoga and regular practice helps to stimulate healthy immune and endocrine systems. When our life is hectic and we ignore the signs to slow down and rest we neglect our body and can create illness and disease. Yoga and meditation are helpful in bringing the body back into balance and ultimately lead to a more healthy, fully functioning body.

Restorative yoga promotes a healthy immune system by increasing the relaxation response and decreasing the often chronic stress response that operates in a chronically overrun system. If you are feeling lethargic, out of balance, mental fog, stress or low energy try restorative yoga poses to gently bring your body back to balance.
The antidote to stress is to relax deeply. In deep relaxation, which differs from sleep, there is no movement, no effort and the brain is silent. In this state, the body is well supported and in a comfortable position, attention is focused on the breath.
Reports have indicated success of deep relaxation in the treatment of high blood pressure, colitis, insomnia, and anxiety. Scientists have also demonstrated reduction of muscular tension and improved circulation as effects of relaxation. Furthermore, the relaxation response has been proven to reduce the heart rate, rate of breathing and improve metabolism. Medications offer similar benefits and may be prescribed by a doctor. Bear in mind, however, the side effects of these drugs on your short and longer term health. Restorative yoga poses are rarely contraindicated though for more fragile bodies, only use under the supervision of a qualified yoga instructor to ensure safety.
Overall, restorative yoga poses have wide-ranging benefits from physical health, to general well-being. When the mind-body-spirit is centered and balanced you are fully able to perform optimally in life. A balanced body supports health and prevents disease. A balanced mind is free to feel inspired and create. A balanced individual is a powerful being with strength to live a life fully.

Light Of Yoga

Teaching Hatha Yoga, correctly and safely, is what we do. Regular Yoga practice leads to greater well-being, a marked reduction in stress and depression, increased energy, improved sleep, continuous detoxification, improved digestion, and a myriad of improvements in physical and mental health. This is not westernized Yoga; not an exercise class. This is Hatha Yoga, taught through an unbroken lineage of yoga masters and practitioners for centuries. Our course is suitable for beginners as well as those who have some experience. These are small classes which progress over a six week period, allowing you to learn and practice each pose.

Synergy Movements

Synergy Movements

Synergy Movement was created and developed by Ruth Dargan in 1994. It is a combination of Classical Hatha Yoga, Psychotherapy, Science and Religion. Synergy Movement is a uniquely integrated practice which evolves the human spirit and the biomechanical human body synergistically, creating a powerful resonance between body, mind and spirit which may be felt and sensed in the core of the human experience.

Synergy Movement programs are new approach to physical conditioning. Synergy Movement holistically empowers, strengthens, generates self-confidence, allows for stress management and creates inner peace. The result is, an enhanced self-conscious, self-directed you.
Synergy Movement is the combined interaction of the Principles of Practice with the Magic of the Movement. The result effects of this unique combination are a euphoric experience which exceeds the experience of any individual principle on its own. It is an exceptionally unique way of training in that it is taught and learned in four levels allowing participants to grade their own practice with unlimited instructional support. Participants are clear about where they are and where they are headed. The experience of the future always remains a delightful mystery, but the participation in ones evolution is understood.

Yoga from the Heart Canada

Yoga from the Heart Canada

Yoga from the Heart Canada is an artistic form of yoga designed specifically to meet the needs of Westerners with their fast pace of life, and their relatively solid inflexible bodies. It is a devotional expression of inner awareness. The classical postures of Hatha yoga are practised actively, but in a new sensitive way. The body is used creatively as a tool to develop inner qualities of strength and stability, surrender and devotion, concentration and calmness. We work with consciousness exercises in which we learn to perceive a deeper side of ourselves, of others, and of life. The classes also consist of pranayama (breathing) exercises, mantra chanting, deep relaxation, meditative readings, and advice on home practice. This yoga develops confidence, and a new sensitivity, and uncovers an inner peace which helps one to cope with the hectic lifestyle most of us find ourselves living.

If you are interested in experiencing this approach to yoga, and its' integration into everyday life, there are regular weekly classes taking place in Kensington Market, downtown Toronto. You are most welcome to come and try out a class on a trial basis. Check out the website and contact the teacher Anne Parsonage.
